Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)in Converse, TX
A little extra calm can change the whole dental experience. At Kashmere Dental Studios, we offer nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, to help children and adults feel more relaxed during treatment. This gentle, fast-acting option allows you or your child to remain awake and responsive while taking the edge off dental anxiety. Because it wears off quickly, your comfort can take center stage without taking over the rest of your day.

What is nitrous oxide?
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a mild form of dental sedation delivered through a small, comfortable mask placed over the nose. As you or your child breathes normally, a carefully controlled blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen creates a calmer, lighter feeling within just a few minutes. Laughing gas may be recommended for a range of treatments, from routine restorative care to oral surgery, helping patients feel more at ease while remaining awake, responsive, and able to communicate with Dr. Kash throughout the appointment. Once treatment is complete, the nitrous oxide is turned off and oxygen is provided to help clear the remaining gas.
At Kashmere Dental Studios, we take a conservative, personalized approach. Dr. Kash considers each patient’s medical history, level of anxiety, treatment needs, and ability to breathe comfortably through the nose before recommending laughing gas.
The nitrous oxide process
Evaluating you or your child’s needs
We begin by discussing your or your child’s medical history, dental anxiety, past experiences, and upcoming treatment. Dr. Kash will determine whether laughing gas is a safe and appropriate option.
Relax with a Comfortable Nose Mask
A small, comfortable nose mask is placed over your nose, allowing you to breathe in a carefully controlled mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide. Within just a few minutes, you'll begin to feel calm, relaxed, and more at ease while remaining fully awake.
Comfortable Treatment
Throughout your procedure, Dr. Kash can easily adjust the level of laughing gas to ensure you're comfortable. You'll remain able to talk, answer questions, and follow simple instructions while feeling more relaxed.
Recovery & Drive Home
Once your treatment is complete, you'll breathe pure oxygen for a few minutes to help the effects wear off quickly. Most patients feel back to normal within minutes and are able to safely drive themselves home and resume their normal daily activities.
Frequently asked questions
Many patients describe feeling light, calm, warm, or slightly tingly. You may even feel like you're floating. Although you'll feel deeply relaxed, you'll remain awake and in control throughout your visit.
When used appropriately and administered by a trained dental professional, nitrous oxide can be a safe and effective way to manage dental anxiety in children. Dr. Kash will review your child’s health history, emotional development, treatment needs, and ability to tolerate the nose mask before recommending it. Safety always gets top billing.
Our team will provide personalized instructions based on your or your child’s health and planned treatment. Please let us know about any medications, medical conditions, recent illnesses, or nasal congestion before the appointment, since patients must be able to breathe comfortably through their nose.
Laughing gas provides a mild level of relaxation that wears off within minutes, allowing most patients to drive themselves home. Oral conscious sedation provides a deeper level of relaxation, lasts much longer, and requires a responsible adult to drive you to and from your appointment.
During your visit, Dr. Kash will review your medical history, anxiety level, and treatment needs to determine whether laughing gas or oral conscious sedation is the best option for a safe, comfortable dental experience.
